What's New

Yosi Levy is an Israeli multifaceted acoustic and electric guitarist of exceptional range and depth.

His latest album, “The Yosi Levy Acoustic Project,” was recorded live with two outstanding musicians: the Israeli flutist Ilan Salem and one of the greatest living Indian tabla players Bickram Ghosh: A longtime accompanist to sitar legend Ravi Shankar.  The CD got great reviews, one of them in ALL ABOUT JAZZ-

Review by James Nadal

Levy’s Acoustic Project tours internationally and has performed in a wide variety of festivals and clubs such as in U.S.A ,India, China, and Israel.

Levy’s acoustic project works in three formats: as a trio (guitar & flute & percussion) duo (guitar & flute), or solo performance. As a solo acoustic guitarist, Levy fuses a fascinating breadth of jazz and baroque-style polyphonic improvisation. His free movement between genres creates an exciting polyphonic texture that showcases Levy’s unlimited capabilities as an improviser. . Alone together - guitar solo , Here comes the sun - guitar solo

He is also an adroit electric guitarist, as can be heard on his album “The House on Lefferts Boulevard,” featuring legendary jazz saxophonist Dave Liebman  - The way it was - by Yosi Levy(audio)

The way it was - live

As a tireless performer, Levy has collaborated and performed with a spectrum of musicians, including Dave Liebman, Phil Woods,   Jeff “Tain” Watts, Frank Gambale, , Jeff Berlin, Bob Gullotti, Mordy Ferber, Denis Reis and Marcelo Nami. He has also played as guitarist and collaborated for some of Israel’s greatest stars: Yoni Rechter, Yosi Banai, Ester Ofarim, Shem Tov Levy, Yair Dallal and many more.

Yosi Levy is a well known jazz teacher and educator in “Rimon School of Jazz And Contemporary Music” in which he created and currently leads the prestigious competition “The Jazz Player Contest”. He also teaches in the -“Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance” there he leads the representative jazz ensemble.

“These seventy four minutes of jazz fusion/world music is some of the most thrilling I have heard”. Harsonsky Music on the album “The Yosi Levy Acoustic Project”

“Yosi Levy is a complex and multifaceted musician. He possesses broad horizons and such a serenely reserved power in controlling and reinforcing the multitudinous tensions of music. As opposed to his introverted demeanor, his playing is full of confidence, decisiveness and a willingness to venture off and take chances” – Amir Harel from Haaretz

“Levy’s talents as a composer transcend styles and trends of sound, as he possesses a kind of diversity and imagination only guitarists delving into solo pieces are capable of presenting.” – Amir Harel from Haaretz
